LAS HERMANAS DE ROCINANTE
Photo series commissioned for the documentary film of the same name by director, Alexandra Kaufmann.
The series showcases the effects of the recent economic crisis through the treatment and well-being of horses. Horses once were a status symbol for the owners. After the economic crisis across Europe in 2008, building developments came to a stand-still, and less visibly, people abandoned their horses as they were no longer able afford their care.
A small group of volunteers organized themselves in order help the animals, by either providing shelter, feeding in the wild or if necessary, putting ill and suffering ones down. Nobody's Horse gives an intimate and personal view of these people against the backdrop of a new economic reality.
