L34
For 30 years the anarcho-queer-feminist house project Liebig 34 has been an active part of Berlins’ political subculture.
Like many places of its kind, the residents have now been evicted. The new owner, Padovicz, who owns over 200 buildings in the city, is widely known for their aggressive real estate management and did not renew the lease agreement when it expired in 2018.
Following this, demonstrations and legal discourses unfolded in an attempt to save Liebig 34, culminating on the 9th of October 2020 when a heavily equipped police force evicted the tenants from the fully barricaded building, leading to a chain of protests throughout the city.
